Cancer Risk Reduction: Program participants will understand how to reduce their cancer risks and the steps involved in leading a healthier life. Risk factors, warning signs and preventative measures are discussed.
Cholesterol Education: Have you been told to lower your cholesterol level? Do you know how and why? Learn what cholesterol is and what the suggested levels are. High blood cholesterol levels can affect your health, so learn dietary and non-dietary strategies to reduce cholesterol levels.
Diabetes Education: Diabetes is one of the fastest growing public health issues in America! Get the latest research results on diabetes including the definition and history of diabetes, risk factors, classifications and normal blood glucose levels, diagnostic criteria for diabetes, and treatment options.
For You/For Life Breast Health Education: Participants are given an overview of breast cancer including: prevalence, what cancer is and the various risk factors. The steps to early detection are emphasized including discussions on the importance and advantages of clinical exams, breast self-exams and mammography’s.
Healthy Hearts: Reduce your risk for Coronary Heart Disease and learn the warning signs of a heart attack.
Know Your Numbers: Managing Blood Pressure: Do you know what your blood pressure is? Should be? Learn about blood pressure including what causes high blood pressure, what high blood pressure does to your body, what can be done for high blood pressure and how to reduce your risk for high blood pressure.
Men’s Health Issues: Do you take better care of your car than your body? What should you know about what’s “under the hood”? Get an overview of how to reduce the risk of heart disease and the following cancers: lung, colo-rectal, prostate & testicular. Learn how prevention and early detection is an important part of routine health maintenance.
Prostate Health – Your Need to Know: Get an overview of prostate health including symptoms of problems, BPH, prostate cancer, risk factors, treatment & screenings.
Safe Fun in the Sun: Learn how to safely enjoy the summer and protect yourself from accidents and ailments more common during the peak of summer. Topics include heat exhaustion/stroke, dehydration, skin and eye damage, food poisoning, burns and drownings.
Understanding Osteoporosis: At risk for osteoporosis? Take part in an informational discussion on how to protect yourself, treatment options, bone density screenings and when to see a doctor.
Women & Heart Disease: Heart disease is the #1 killer of women. Learn the basics of heart disease and how you can take action to lower your risk and stay on the road to heart health.
ERGONOMICS
Back Safety: Learn important aspects of back care, including how to prevent back injury and recurring back pain through proper posture, body mechanics and exercise.
Computer Station Evaluation: Receive instruction on proper workstation positioning in order to reduce eye strain, neck strain or aching fingers and wrists. Discussion includes information on adjustments for video display terminals and seating and evaluating their work area. Participants will also learn about the anatomy of the hand/arm and causes, prevention and treatment of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
EXERCISE
Building Your Activity Pyramid: Experts say that every adult should accumulate 30 minutes or more of moderate to intense physical activity over the course of most days. Learn how to use the activity pyramid to help guide you towards your activity and fitness goals.
FAVORITE! Exercise for Busy People: Learn how to incorporate activity into your busy day at home, at work or when traveling, with simple but effective exercises. Participants receive a Dyna-Band and instruction booklet. Tone up in just 20 minutes a day with “equipment” that can fit in a pocket! (Extra $1/person charge for bands).

Fit Kids/Fit Families: Nutrition and fitness for the whole family. Emphasis on how to obtain and maintain a healthy weight, including special information for overweight children. Topics include portion and serving sizes for everyone in the family, suggestions for meals the family can make together and healthy recipes for kids. Strategies for a physically active lifestyle for the entire family provided.
Walk Your Way to Fitness: Learn how to develop your own personalized walking program including proper walking techniques, shoe selection and safety guidelines.

Self-Care and You: Become a better health care consumer and self-care practitioner. You’ll learn the 25 most common health problems and how to determine: what a real medical emergency is, when you need to consult a physician, whether you should treat the illness or injury yourself, and what self-care procedures you should use. Each participant receives a 70-page self-care manual.
Stress Management: Identify your individual stressors through this interactive workshop. Find out how your body responds to stress. Take a Stress Rating Test and a Life Inventory Test and learn how to react to stress in a positive and productive way. Practice the various components of a stress management program: deep breathing, muscle relaxation and visual imagery relaxation exercises.
Time Management: You’ve heard it: time is money, but also happiness and productivity. Examine the correlation between stress and effective time management. Learn how to manage your time effectively and organize your schedule to help reach goals and expectations at home and at work.
Cost: $15.00 per person (minimum of $150) or $375.00 per session, whichever is least expensive. The Self-Care class is $16.50 per person due to the cost of the manual.
RISK PROFILE PROGRAMS
Cancer Risk Profile: Become aware of cancer risks and recommended preventive actions. Each participant fills out a risk factor evaluation questionnaire and receives a Cancer Risk Learning Guide and a personalized risk profile report, which includes a list of risk factors present and age / sex specific cancer check-up guidelines.
Coronary Risk Profile: Each participant fills out a cardiovascular risk assessment questionnaire and receives a Building Your Heart Health Learning Guide and a personalized report, which includes a summary of their risk for coronary heart disease, a graph displaying individual risk factors and explanations and recommendations for each risk factor.
Fitness Profile: Each participant completes a questionnaire and receives a report that summarizes their current fitness level, areas for improvement and then provides recommendations.
Health Age Profile: Want to live longer and better?! Discuss life expectancy in relation to lifestyle factors and learn how you can raise your life expectancy. Each participant fills out a Health Age questionnaire which examines 7 basic health practices and receives a Health Age Learning Guide and a personalized report, which includes a graphic wellness rating, a Health Age estimate, an Achievable Age and a personal wellness recommendation.
Nutrition Profile: Each participant receives a Nutrition Learning Guide and a personalized report, which includes a nutrition rating scale and specific nutrition recommendations. Participants understand how to make specific changes concerning good eating habits. By assessing participant’s usual dietary intake, recommendations are generated which helps guide dietary changes.
Stress & Coping Profile: Participants fill out a questionnaire relating to basic lifestyle habits and receive a stress & coping report, which evaluates each participant’s perceived coping status, stress signals, stress load and how happy or energetic they are. The way individuals cope with different positive and negative stressors in their lives is measured.
Osteoporosis Profile: Each participant receives a report which helps them understand osteoporosis, identify the risk factors they have and determine how to prevent osteoporosis from developing.
Cost: $11.50 per person (minimum $110) or $325.00 per session, whichever is least expensive. Risk profiles without educational component are $3.50 per person.
INTERVENTION PROGRAMS
Cholesterol Countdown: Five 40-minute sessions. The first sessions provide an awareness of major issues including Coronary Heart Disease, dietary factors that impact blood cholesterol, a food package workshop, and a 3 day food record. Following sessions provide practical steps for dietary change including self-assessments of food records and anticipating obstacles, understanding how new foods come into our repertoire, using recipes at home and coping at restaurants. Cost: $25 per person.
Nutrition for Life: Ten, one-hour classes that meet weekly. This nutrition education program teaches people how to lose weight and keep it off. Participants learn how to decrease the fat and increase carbohydrates in their diet, how to read food labels, how to survive dining out and grocery shopping, and how to incorporate physical activity into their lifestyle. Cost: $125 per person.
“Quit for Good” Smoking Cessation: This 5-session program provides participants with all of the essential information and strategies needed to direct their own efforts at stopping. The program focuses on active pragmatic approaches to stopping. Cost: $50.00 per person.
